Claude Everett Harpe Jr.'s Obituary
Claude Everett Harpe, Jr. age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2020 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL to Claude and Lila Harpe in 1953 and moved to Gainesville in 1966.
He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971.
He married Barbara Kinard Harpe in 1974 and has 2 children Claude Everett Harpe III and Rebecca Harpe Patrick.
In 1977 he opened Harpe Heating and Air-conditioning and added Harpe construction is 1996.
Claude loved the outdoors and became an accomplished fishing expert, with a passion for hunting, while competitively racing in the Nascar Sportsman Division. He later formed a passion for flying. Most recently he began raising cattle with his life companion, Cheryl Dean, who also helped care for him through his health battle over the last 6 months.
He is survived by his son, Everett Harpe (Dana); daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Patrick (Kevin); grandchildren, Christine, John & Ethan Harpe, and Reese & Hyatt Patrick; mother of his children, Barbara Harpe; sister, Debbie Harpe Brooks (Joel); brother, Gordon Harpe (Robin); numerous nieces & nephews, and a host extended family in Jacksonville & Melrose.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 11 am. Due to the current circumstances, the service will be livestreamed on Facebook. Family and friends are welcome to join and celebrate Claude’s life. The link to the livestream is: https://www.facebook.com/events/222575739034396/. The livestream will be on the event page and will start 30 minutes prior to the service. Immediately following the service, a reception for friends and family will be held at the Harpe home.
