Mr. Smith was born September 25, 1930 in Waldo, the son of Charles Cyrus Smith & Maude Godbey Smith. He graduated from Waldo High School. Clark married his wife, Thelma Juanita Pons Smith in 1949. They spent almost 69 years together and had five children. Clark worked as a pipefitter with Local 234 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union.
