Dr. Clarence Ammerman's Obituary
Dr. Clarence Ammerman was born May 21, 1929 to James Phillip Ammerman and Mary Betty in Cynthiana KY. He was the youngest of eleven children. Dr. Ammerman grew up in Cynthiana, he attended and graduated from Connersville high school and the University of Illinois.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Verschaeve, Gainesville, Florida; David (Karen) Ammerman, Altamonte Springs, Florida; Doug Ammerman; four grandchildren, Corbin & Reubin Verschaeve; Lauren & Tucker Ammerman; brother, Howard Kendall Ammerman, Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Ammerman received his B.S. degree in 1951 & M.S. degree in 1952 from the University of Kentucky and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1956. His primary research contributions have been in the area of toxicity, interrelationships and bioavailability of mineral elements to animals.
Dr. Ammerman was honored and recognized as the recipient of the International Gamma Sigma Delta Award in 1992 and Outstanding Alumnus Award, University of Kentucky Chapter Gamma Sigma Delta Award in 1992. Dr. Ammerman’s career spanned 42 years in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida.
Dr. Ammerman’s interests and service to others included over 50 years of dedication and leadership services to the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Florida and over 30 years of loyal service to the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, Florida.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 419 NE 1st St, with Rev. Carl Romey officiating.
