Clara Elaine Nordstedt's Obituary
Clara Elaine Nordstedt, 77, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Sunday, August 4, 2019 in the E.T. York Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Nordstedt was born in Hazard, Kentucky on February 9, 1942 to the late Cyle and Ruby Jean Davidson. She came to Gainesville in the mid 1960’s, working and raising her family, later moving to Melrose before returning to Gainesville in her later years. Mrs. Nordstedt had many hobbies; from crafting, mosaics, sewing and gardening, to singing in her church choir and playing various musical instruments. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Gainesville and had recently attended Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Mrs. Nordstedt had worked as an accountant at the University of Florida Law School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Nordstedt in 2014.
Survivors include; two daughters, Paula (Richard) Gonzalez, of Johns Creek, GA and Laura (Jim) Hite, of Seattle, WA; one son, David (Mary) Nordstedt, of Gainesville; a sister, Betty (John) Hewitt, of Gainesville; and one grandson, Justin Gonzalez, of Johns Creek, GA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M., in the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alan Struckmeyer, officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 9, 2019 from 5 to 7 P. M., in the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
