Claire A. (Severance) Lederman's Obituary
Claire A. (Severance) Lederman was born April 20, 1927.
She passed away peacefully on the morning of February 20, 2023.
Claire was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She was one of three children of the late
Anna Lemieux and Malcolm Butler Severance. She was predeceased in death by her sister Marcelle (John) Gordon, and brother Eddie (Jean) Severance. She is also preceded by her former husband Alan Lederman.
Claire is survived by her beloved daughter Melissa Dana Lederman (William) Caton, grandson Brandon (Katie) Caton and granddaughter Christy (Corey Morris) Caton as well as her three 3 great granddaughters. Claire was also the cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Claire graduated from Lawrence High School in Massachusetts. Following graduation, she moved to Miami and was the secretary to the famous Rat Pack for the summer. She relocated to Gainesville Florida where she and her former husband Alan opened up a Cuban shop named Alan’s Cubana for many years. Claire received her A.S. degree in accounting from Santa Fe College in Florida. She was employed at Florida Farm Bureau for over 25 years from where she retired. She was an active and proud member of the Golden Gators, Gainesville AARP, and the local senior center. Claire enjoyed painting, working in the yard, traveling with family and spending time with her grandkids. She adored and loved them so much. Not only was she a great mother and grandmother but also an amazing best friend. She will be terribly missed by many and will be remembered as a kind and caring person.
A service to celebrate Claire’s life will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea. 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry, Fl. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home.
