Christa Walsh's Obituary
Christa Walsh passed away peacefully at her home on August 1, 2022. At a young age, her father passed away during WWII. During the war, her mother fled what is now the Czech Republic with her three children: two boys and one daughter. They were refugees and would eventually settle in Amberg, Germany.
At the age of 17, she took a job as a nanny in London, England, teaching herself English by watching tv. She would live in England for two years. Later she would get a job as a secretary at American Express in Nurnberg, Germany. In her late 20s, she emigrated to the United States. She worked in reservations for Lufthansa in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She loved traveling and would travel with her two children, often visiting Germany to see her family.
In her 40s, she would open up her own successful boutique travel agency. She was a tireless worker and her customers loved her, many becoming lifelong friends. She was an avid dog lover and later in her life, she started to like cats too. She loved her coffee but only with two sugars and a dollop of whole milk. She loved a mean drink of guava juice with a straw. Her favorite food was freshly baked bread with butter. She loved to watch the Price is Right every day.
She was a 30-year-plus cancer survivor. After her stroke ten years ago, she moved to Jasmine Pointe at the Village. At Jasmine Pointe, she became a multi-Wii bowling champion. The staff and residents at Jasmine Pointe loved her and would remark on her beautiful smile and her friendly thumbs up.
Most of all, she loved and was proud of her two children: her son Oliver and daughter Heidi.
A private funeral mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to either the Village Foundation www.thevillageonline.com/foundation or Florida Bichon Frise Rescue https://bichonfrise.rescueme.org/florida
