Charlotte "Chay" Gravely Blount's Obituary
Charlotte “Chay” Gravely Blount, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at Plaza Healthcare on December 14, 2018.
Born in South Boston, VA on April 4, 1924, she moved with her family to Newberry, FL, where she grew up and graduated high school. She attended Florida State University and the University of Florida. Charlotte enjoyed teaching elementary education in the Alachua County Public School System for thirty years. After her retirement, she worked in the Guardian Ad Litem Program. She was an active member of her church, the Alachua First United Methodist Church and served on the board of Trustees. She was a long-standing member of the Alachua Woman’s Club and other professional and social organizations
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ralph Blount, and her son Greg Blount.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Everett (Ronnie) of Gainesville and her grandson, Tyler Everett of Tallahassee, her daughter-in-law, Kay Blount and her two granddaughters, Courtney Blount Mannix and Kristen Blount all of Tampa, St. Petersburg area.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Alachua First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry Carris officiating. Burial will follow in Newnansville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alachua First United Methodist Church, 14805 NW 140th St, Alachua, FL 32615.
