Charles Gaines Thomason's Obituary
Charles Gaines Thomason, 93, resident of Gainesville, Florida passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
Mr. Thomason was born on December 2, 1922 in Whites Creek, Tennessee to the late Charles F. and Christine Gaines Thomason. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Thomason was a mechanical engineer and was employed by the United States Government. His wife, R. Beryl Thomason, who preceded him in death in 2013, was the love of his life. The two, along with their children, moved from Fairfax, Virginia and retired to Gainesville in 1978. He was a very giving man and his actions reflected his Christianity.
Mr. Thomason was preceded in death by his loving wife, R. Beryl Thomason and son, Jerry Van Thomason. He is survived by two daughters, Diann Beryl Uustal (Tom) of Jamestown, RI and Caryl Ann Thomason of Gainesville, FL; one son, Thomas Charles Thomason (Barbara) of Healdsburg, CA; two granddaughters, Kristy Uustal Stephens of Glastonbury, CT and Katie Uustal Catlender of Scituate, MA and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Aaron Rousseau officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Central. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32653.
