Charles Rinek, a World War II Veteran, died on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Live Oak, Florida. He was 94 years old.
Charles served from 12/7/41 to 3/2/46 following a medical Discharge. He received awards and citations as follows: EAME Defense Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, the Bronze Medal Duty NCO 56. Combat infantry Badge and recognition for SS M1 Rifle and Carbine.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hallie Waterfield Rinek; his son Charles Dallas Rinek of Flagler Beach, FL; his daughters, Carol Howenstine of Fishers, IN and Hallie Sandberg of Washburn, WI. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren and their spouses and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial ceremony is to be held at Advent Christian Village on June 8, 2017 10:00 a.m. and his family will have their own private ceremony at a later date. His wishes are to be buried at Florida National Cemetery.
