Charles Gordon Smith
Pierre, aka "Pete", grew up in New Smyrna Beach and was considered a "Beachside Kid" as were the rest of us guys who lived and thrived.on our beautiful island. Pete was a member of the Smyrna Surf Club which was established in the fall of 1963. In 1965 a group picture of us club members was taken on the beach in front of the Flagler Ave. parking area/park. Pete can be found standing in the middle of the picture with surfboard in hand. This photo has been on the cover of at least one book and featured in several other books and newspaper articles. An enlarged version hangs in Museum of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Ca... "Pete" was a great guy and will be missed by all of his surfer buddies here in N.S.B. I'm so happy to know he found love and was blessed with children and grand kids, too. Way to go Pete! Gordon Smith, N.S.B.
