To the Nelson family:
My heart is filled with sadness today as I received the news of the passing of Dr. Nelson better known to me as Dr. "N". I have know your father since I began employment in the Math Dept back in 1988. Even though Dr. "N" retired in 1994 we continued to keep in touch all these years. Dr. "N" was one the kindest men I have ever known. With all of the memories I have of him the one that stands out the most is his love for his family. Dr. "N" once told me many years ago that there was a special place in heaven for me; however, I am pretty sure that place was reserved for him. Dr. "N": My thoughts and prayers with the entire Nelson family during this difficult time. Sandy
A loving and supportive father-in-law. I will miss you, Dad. Preston
Dr. Nelson was truly one of the kindest men I have ever known. I have so many wonderful memories from the years we worked together.
Chuck's smile was such a gift. Love the picture! Memories: Chuck reading the Word in the worship service, his voice strong, clear, and inspiring reaches into the hearts and minds of the listeners touching them with God's grace. Chuck laughing in remembrance of doing Pastor Arnold's taxes out of the box of scraps of paper and scattered receipts...a sacrificial act of love. Chuck with tears glistening in his eyes when hearing two young women needed help...their names were Tina and Dana...the same as his dear daughters...and help he gave. Chuck telling me stories of the recent move from a much beloved home...of hashmarks on doors showing the heights of his children growing over the years and all the treasures left behind...yet a new joy at a new home looking forward to years making new memories. Just a few days ago, a hug, a sharing of laughter over a memory of Pastor Castor from 1967. Chuck will be deeply missed and always remembered. We give thanks to God for him and all the touches of God's grace he showered on us over the last almost half century!! God grant you comfort and peace. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -
