Charles Geoffrey Frieman Crampton "Guffy"
Born in Queens, NY on August 4, 1955, to Dr. Charles F. and Ellen D. Crampton went home to his Father in Heaven on March 23, 2024.
He moved to Gainesville in 1956 where he graduated from Buchholz High School in 1973. He worked many jobs over the years, including Fabco Air, Sabine Inc. in Alachua, FL where he invented some tuning devices for which he received patents for. He loved electronics and was brilliant and gifted in that area. His last employment was as a Systems Control Analyst with Gainesville Regional Utilities. Guffy loved music and playing the guitar. He played briefly with the original Dixie Desperados, having played with them in "The Battle of the Bands" at the Florida Theater. He also played in Power Glide with Nancy Luca, Greg McMillan, and Steve Nelson. He was predeceased by his father, mother, and sister, Carol Crampton. Mourning his departure from this world are his sister, Mary Crampton Medina Moore, brother-in-law, Bradley Moore, niece, Robin Medina, nephew, Jeremy Medina (Christine Medina), grand-nephew and godson, Jeremy Medina Jr, grand-nieces, Sophie and Phoebe Medina, and grand-nephew, Lucas Medina. Guffy loved cats. He volunteered helping Operation Catnip and fed feral cats until his health declined and he was no longer able to do so.
A funeral service with a reception to follow will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Downtown Chapel, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Operation Catnip.
