Charles Daniel “Dan” Dugger
Loving Father, Grandfather and Friend to many passed away on April 5, 2015.
He was born on February 11, 1923 in Macclenny, Florida to the late Addie Rhoden and Charlie Dugger. He graduated high school in Hawthorne, Florida. Dan served our country in WWII in the 8th Army Air Corp, 381st Bomb Squad and was a German POW. After his discharge, Dan worked for Brownlee Seed and Feed until his retirement in 1988. A radio commercial for Brownlee Seed and Feed, advised listeners to come see “Smiling Dan the Purina Man”. In his retirement years, Dan farmed and traveled. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hawthorne. In 2013, he was recognized as “Deacon Emeritus" after serving as a deacon for over 50 years.
Dan is survived by his 3 children and their spouses – Leo and Dee Dugger, Gainesville, FL; Jim and Wanda Dugger, Kingston, GA; Kathryn and Randy Nobles, Rome, GA; Grandchildren: Will and Tracy Dugger, Leslie Dugger; Lindy and Mark Cordell, Logan Dugger; Aaron, Alyssa, Carrie and Kate Nobles and Great grandchildren: Cotton and Issac Cordell and Evie Dugger.
Services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 2:00 P. M., in the First Baptist Church Hawthorne with Pastor Charles Litzell, officiating. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P. M.. Interment with military honors will follow at the Hawthorne Cemetery.
