Charles "Danny" Daniel Merrell's Obituary
Charles Daniel "Danny" Merrell, age 82 formerly of Old Town, Florida passed away November 24, 2024, in Quincy, Illinois. He was born August 14, 1942, in Tampa, Florida to Tolbert Ozell and Ora Evelyn Rolfe Merrell.
He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent. He then went on to work for John Deere company and retired after working for them for a number of years.
Danny loved his pets, loved to fish and hunt, and loved football! He was a big fan of the New Orleans Saints, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also of the LSU Tigers. He was also a voracious reader and really enjoyed thrillers and old westerns.
He is survived by children, Sharon Merrell Lewis (Steve) & Jennifer Heidi Grunwald (Michael); grandchildren, Monika, Sonja, Erika - Sharon's children and Ryan, Carter & Delaney - Heidi's children; siblings, Thomas Merrell and Julia Merrell Hartz and his ex-wife, Elfi Kopf Merrell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Diane Merrell; parents, Tolbert and Evelyn Merrell; siblings, Wesley Merrell, Joyce Merrell Ralyea, Robert Merrell.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesville Cemetery, 17722 SW 15th Ave, Newberry, FL 32669 with Dr. Don McGarity.
