Charles "Chuck" Larry Thomas' Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Larry Thomas passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021.
Chuck was born in Columbus, Mississippi on March 14, 1946, to William J. and Peggy Thomas. He lived in Gainesville, Florida for almost 50 years.
Chuck served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1973 he became a police officer and served with honor at the Gainesville Police Department until he retired in 2004. He remained active with law enforcement by serving with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office in court services.
He was a wonderful husband to Paula and father to Elizabeth. He loved his family and friends, Harley Davidsons, UF Gator baseball, studying history, telling stories, and travel.
He was involved in numerous clubs and organizations including the Blue Knights and the Gator Dugout Club.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Chase), father-in-law Stanley Gordon, sister, Peggy A Thomas (Doug), nephew, Jason Chapman (Kristin), granddaughters, Grace Bright (Annie), Hannah Braden, as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Paula Thomas, mother; Peggy Thomas, and father; William J. Thomas.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA CHAPEL 823 N.W, 143rd Street Newberry, Florida with Chaplain Graham Glover officiating.
