Charles Edward "Dick" Cason's Obituary
Charles Edward “Dick” Cason, age 79 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 in the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center. Dick was born March 4, 1936 in Gainesville and grew up in Cedar Key.
Dick Proudly served his country in the US Armed forces for 43 years, having served in the US Air Force, US Coast Guard and retired MSgt from the US Army. He retired after 30 years from Gainesville Regional Utilities
Dick loved and cherished his family. They were the light of his life. Dick was a very outgoing and compassionate man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and FSU Seminole football.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Cason; daughter, Judy (Andy) Benton of Gainesville, FL; sons, John (Genice) Cason of Wesley Chapel, FL and Bill (Becky) Cason of Gainesville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Brittany Benton, Kristin, Lexie and Colby Cason, Ryan and Chloe Cason; 1 great grandson, Tanner Benton Mundorff; 3 sisters, Joy Kent of Orlando, FL, Sue Cason of Lake City, FL and Jean Frye of Citrus Springs, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first grandson, Brock Benton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Countryside Baptist Church, 10926 NW 39th Avenue, with Rev. Bill Keith and Rev. Gene Keith officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. Burial will be held Thursday afternoon in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
