Chandler Philip Irvin's Obituary
Chandler Philip Irvin passed away suddenly on February 13, 2025. Chandler was born on January 16, 1985, in Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, FL. He is the son of Pamela Wooten Irvin and William Leon Irvin of Gainesville, FL and brother to Kendall Noel Irvin (Joe Rainwater-Cummings) of Schoharie, NY.
Being a military brat, Chandler lived his childhood in many places including Crestview, FL and Palm Bay, FL. While at Palm Bay High School, he was a 4-year Letterman in Varsity Baseball as a pitcher and catcher. He was involved in many clubs and organizations and was known as “Sir Dirt” on the Envirothon Team. As a junior, he won the J Kyle Braide Award recognizing student leadership, the Hugh O’Brien Award, and attended the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. He finished in the top three of his graduating class.
Chandler was born and raised as a Florida Gator and graduated from UF with Honors in 2007 where he was also a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Chandler attended Stetson Law School in Gulfport, FL where he graduated at the top of his class and was a member of The Law Review. After serving as a Staff Attorney for Justice Ricky Polston of the Florida Supreme Court, he eventually established his own law firm. In January of 2023, Chandler decided to retire and live the “good life” on a large property in Gainesville he called “Sundown Pastures.”Chandler was an avid reader and has a magnificent collection of over 1,500 books. In fact, he just completed his latest goal of reading 1000 books by the time he was 40.
He is survived by his parents, his sister, his best friend Kelli, as well his devoted 4-legged protectors, Hank, and Hannah. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents Philip and Gloria Wooten and Wade and Wanda Durden. While we are devastated and heartbroken over our unimaginable loss, we also celebrate the beautiful gift of having loved such an extraordinary and generous young man. He did so many good things in this world; donating his time and his money to worthwhile causes from supporting autism awareness and Mastiff Rescue of Florida and always assisting friends in need. He was also an organ donor, and we just learned his corneas were donated so that two other people can maintain their eyesight.
We invite those who knew Chandler to think back on some of your favorite memories of him and remember him with a smile. If you wish, you may honor his legacy by supporting his favorite organization, The Mastiff Rescue of Florida.
Though our grief and pain are immeasurable, our love for Chandler endures. May his memory be a gift to all of us.
