Cesar Augusto Lenis' Obituary
Cesar Augusto Lenis—son, husband, father, grandfather, mechanical engineer, security officer and volunteer fire-fighter—died on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 in Gainesville, Fl. Cesar took his last earthly breath surrounded by the love of his mother, wife, sister & both daughters.
Cesar was born on November 10th, 1961 in Bogota, Colombia to Oscar & Amparo Lenis. Cesar studied at the University Incca de Colombia to become a Mechanical Engineer. He loved music and played multiple instruments. He also enjoyed fishing, soccer & traveling. His favorite past-time at home was maintaining a noticeably manicured yard.
Cesar put his family above everything. He gave up the prestige of his career in Colombia to move to Gainesville so his daughters would have every educational opportunity close by. Although this move required him to change his career & begin an entry level position at Shands at AGH, he quickly moved up and brought his family to begin a new life in the U.S. He was an unconditionally loving father to his daughters, and later to his granddaughters. He was a loving husband & son.
Cesar will be remembered as loyal, hard-working, organized, genuine & dedicated to helping others. He was in all, a humanitarian. This dedication is what drove him to volunteer as a fire-fighter and to leave the home he was born to and create a new home & life for himself and his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lenis. Cesar will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Nidia Carreno; his mother, Amparo Lenis; daughters, Andrea Carolina Lenis (Andres); Monica Marcela Acevedo (Marcus) his grand-daughters, Marcela Iryn, Ariana Celeste, Maia Melanie & Macie Natalie & his sister Piedad Gonzalez.
During his life, Cesar touched more people’s lives and hearts than are able to be listed. He will be missed by family and friends around the world. The flame of leading and giving he carried inside him will forever live on in every memory of him in those that knew and loved him.
A private funeral service will be held by the family at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the Lenis family requests donations be made to the children battling cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the spirit of giving and saving lives.
