Carolyn Jean Ramey's Obituary
Carolyn Jean Ramey, 83, longtime resident of Alachua, Florida, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Ramey was born and raised in West Virginia, daughter of the late Rev. Garrett D. and Bama Steele Stamper; she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia Bassett, Milford Hudson and June Hoyny and by five brothers, Arlie, Haskell, Charles and Bill Stamper and Douglas Skeen.
Carolyn took the most pride in her family, they were her main goal in life. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Hezekiah Ramey, her children Charles (Jana) Ramey, of Indian Land, South Carolina; Deloris J. (Michael) Paul, of Williston, Florida; and Kiahla (Jason) Stanley, of High Springs, Florida; seven grandchildren, Kara (Joel) Simpson, Jason (Andrea) Ramey and Stephen (Patrice) Ramey, all of Indian Land, South Carolina, Ryan (Mariah) Paul, Olivia (Blaine) Roberson, Hannah Paul (Alijah), and Kelsie Stanley, all of Gainesville, Florida; eight great grandchildren, Reese & Madden Ramey; Peyton, Abigayle, Avery and Addy Ramey and Amber & Matt Simpson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A. M. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Alachua.
