Carol Hunt Wright's Obituary
Carol Hunt Wright, 79, longtime resident of Newberry, Florida, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Wright was born on February 5, 1939 in Williston, Florida, to the late Sidney and Ruth Sapp Hunt, and had lived most of her life in Newberry. She graduated from Newberry High School, Class of 1957. Mrs. Wright worked for 25 years with the Alachua County School Board retiring in 1996. For most of those years she was a data entry specialist at Ft. Clarke Middle School and then at Oakview Middle School, where she was named the District’s Top School-Related Employee of the Year in 1996. Mrs. Wright was an avid reader, she loved to hunt and fish, but mostly enjoyed spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wright was a quiet angel on earth who loved everyone and was loved by many and always put the needs of her family above herself. Her family knows that she is now rejoicing in heaven with her parents, sister (Judy Johnson) and other loved ones.
Survivors include; her husband of 61 years, Douglas Wayne Wright; two daughters, Debbie (Tommy) Boyd, of Newberry and Valerie (Albert) Elmore, of Rule, Texas; two sons, Wendell (Debbie) Wright and Steve (Beth) Wright, both of Newberry; a sister, Peggy Lee, of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Marie Smith, of Newberry; five grandchildren, Shauna Jones, Melissa Mullins, Brandon Gregg, Trista Morales, and Daniel Elmore; eight great grandchildren, John, Vanessa, Trevor, Hailey, Maria, Avigail, Jayden and Colton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Pastor Andy Cook, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M., at the funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to either the American Heart Association, 3324 West University Avenue, #128, Gainesville, FL 32607 or the American Diabetes Association, 8384 Baymeadows Road Ste. 10, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
