Carmen Joseph "Joe" Racioppi's Obituary
Carmen Joseph "Joe" Racioppi, beloved father to three children, of Melrose, FL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, at Shands Hospital, on January 7, 2026. He was 73 Years old. Joe was born in Newark, NJ, on July 16, 1952, to Lusia Bruno Racioppi and Carlo Racioppi. He loved traveling, hiking, riding his bike, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe received his master's degree at the University of Florida and taught for the Alachua County Public School system for 42 years. During his tenure as an educator, Joe taught history and social studies, coached football and weightlifting, was promoted to Athletic Director and eventually became the Traffic Safety Coordinator for Alachua County, where they named a street after him. Joe was a devoted father to Adam, Heather, Justin and his wife, Lindsey Racioppi. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder for the Gators, as well as a lifelong Yankee fan. Despite numerous health challenges, our Joe’s love of family, life, and the outdoors never wavered.
Joe is survived by his three children, two grandchildren, his sister, Lois Racioppi Lamb, and his brother, Carl Racioppi.
