She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to a very large Italian family. Her mother passed when she was a young girl so Millie’s adult life started early. Her education ended when she was in 8th grade when her family sent her to work in the textile mill making supplies for WW2. Along with her many different day jobs, Millie was always a caregiver. She never complained and was always ready to help. She moved to New Lexington, Ohio to take care of an ill family member at age 18 when she met her husband, Joseph Dorsey. They were married for 45 years until his passing in 1993. Millie and her husband lived in Clearwater, Florida and then moved to Gainesville in 1989. Millie loved to sing and was always humming a tune. She loved being outside and working in yard. The children in the neighborhood all new her as “Nanny” as she was always babysitting. Many times, she would accept yardwork or house repair while exchanging meatballs and lasagna or cookies if was Christmas time for the help. Millie never went anywhere and was a stranger. Whether going to the store, bank or insurance agent, someone would always greet her by name. Millie was a devoted wife, loving mother and a blessing to all her knew her. No service will be held in Gainesville. Millie’s memorial service will be held in Ohio during the summer.
