Carl C Eckel's Obituary
Carl C. Eckel passed away September 2, 2016. He was born March 26, 1925 in Gemunden-Whora, Germany emigrating to the United States at the age of 1.
He grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey graduating from Tenafly High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy serving as an electronic technician mate. Following the war he received a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Steven’s Institute of Technology.
Carl met his wife-to-be, Grace Elizabeth Godfrey, while they each attended school (she in nursing) in northern New Jersey. Carl was employed as an engineer by Underwood, RCA and Honeywell. He held 3 U.S. patents including one for the computer printer used during the Kennedy-Nixon election when computerized returns made their debut. His hobbies included photography and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife Grace and children, David Eckel of Gainesville, Helen Stark of Bellingham, MA, William Eckel of Alexandria, VA and Robert Eckel of Worchester, MA.
