Caleb McLain's Obituary
Caleb McLain, 26, passed away on Christmas Day, 2025 after a courageous two-year journey with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Though his time was far too short, Caleb lived with intention, heart, and a quiet determination that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Caleb grew up in Cape Coral, Florida, and as a young adult, he made his home in Gainesville, Florida building a life he was proud of with his wife, Taylor.
Caleb had a small but deeply devoted circle of friends—and once you were part of it, you were family. He was earnest in everything he did, hardworking by nature, and guided by a strong sense of responsibility and care for others. Whether in his personal life or professional career, Caleb took pride in showing up, doing things the right way, and putting people first.
That devotion shone brightest in his love for Taylor. Caleb made her laugh more than anyone else ever could, stood by her with unwavering loyalty, and consistently placed her needs above his own—even at the end. Their bond was built on humor, trust, and deep, abiding love.
Things that made him smile were long gaming sessions, Pokémon battles, movies, and time with family & friends. His cat, Ravioli, was his pride and joy (even if she clearly favored Taylor). He appreciated simple pleasures, shared laughter, and moments of connection.
Caleb will be deeply missed by his wife, Taylor McLain; his mother, Tracey Payne; his grandparents, Jacqueline Butler, Greg and Marylin McLain; his siblings, Jacob and Shyann McLain; his in-laws, Jill and Thomas Corcoran; and a large extended family who will carry his memory forward.
Caleb will be remembered for his kind heart, his loyalty, his quiet determination, and the love he gave so freely. Though his life was short, it was full — and the impact he made will continue to be felt in the laughter he inspired and the love he shared.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Caleb’s memory are invited to contribute to a GoFundMe established to support final expenses and help care for the family he loved so deeply:
