Bryan Thomas Klemm's Obituary
Bryan Thomas Klemm, 31, of Gainesville, Florida, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, surrounded by loved ones.
Bryan’s life was one of courage, determination, and unselfishness. His strength in handling lifelong medical challenges made him an inspiration to many. His kind heart made him a friend.
Born in Atlanta, Bryan spent much of his early life under the capable care of the ICU team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Still, he found time to play youth baseball, golf, and videogames. After graduating from Greater Atlanta Christian School, he briefly attended Oglethorpe University.
A lifelong sports fan, Bryan cheered for his beloved Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United Soccer.
In 2019, Bryan successfully underwent a risky double-lung transplant at University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Following a long recovery, he enjoyed the best health of his life. His favorite pastimes included spending his time with his church family at Greenhouse Church, walking his dog StanLee, traveling, and visiting his family.
Bryan lived his life fully and purposefully, with no apologies and barely a nod to his challenges. He was known for his goofy sense of humor and infectious laugh.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Garrett Walker (Bud) Yost and Richard H. Klemm. He is survived by his parents, Julie and Rick Klemm of Daufuskie Island; brother Richard and sister-in-law Julia Klemm of Greenville, SC; nephews Owen and Walker; grandmothers June Klemm and Patty Yost; his dear friend Taylor Eckelmann; cousins Josh and Andrew Yost, Allison d’Amboise, Augie Stadtmueller, Christine and Adam Brozynski; aunts and uncles Donna and John Yost; Lynda and Jim Stadtmueller; Janet and Wayne Brozynski; and friends too numerous to count.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at The Greenhouse Church. 11200 NW 39th Ave. Gainesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the Stevens Clark Memorial Fund at Shands Hospital, to provide financial support to lung transplant patients at Shands hospital. Donate to Stevens Clark Memorial. https://donate.giving.ufhealth.org/give/244753/#!/donation/checkout.
