Bruno W. Kotula, Jr.'s Obituary
Bruno W. Kotula, Jr, 79, passed away on July 29, 2022, in Archer, Florida. Dear son of the late Bruno and Irene Kotula, beloved husband of Lois (Marta), loving father of Angel and Tony Kotula, devoted grandfather of Scott Jacobsen, Ashley Schuls, David Kotula, Anthony Kotula, Lexi Kotula and Abbey Kotula and great grandfather of Aiden Kotula. Cherished brother of Barbara (William) Kraus.
Bruno was born and raised in Chicago and was a proud graduate of St. Rita High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed at KI Sawyer AFB in Michigan. He lived with his wife of 56 years in Michigan and later in Florida. He ran 2 successful businesses with his wife and also worked as an LPN, pharmacy assistant and Assistant to the Pathologist at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. Bruno volunteered at St. Mary’s Church while raising his children, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the DAV and a Chaplain in the Am Vets. He retired from UF Shands and enjoyed volunteering, helping families check in on Fridays at the Ronald McDonald House. Bruno loved flags, Sherlock Holmes, photography – especially wedding pictures, reading, collecting and model trains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave, Gainesville, FL, with Fr. Alberto Esposito as celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street.
Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
