Brenna DeHaven Rogers' Obituary
Brenna DeHaven Rogers passed away on September 28, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 12, 1962, in Robbinsville, North Carolina to Malinda Smoker, who was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
At age two Brenna and her brother William were adopted by Donald and Ruth DeHaven and grew up in Southwest Miami Florida in an area called the Redlands. After graduating from South Dade High School in 1980 her family relocated to Newberry, Florida. She worked at Shands Hospital in the construction department as a secretary until leaving to care for her parents. She was involved in several local volunteer activities including Stop Children’s Cancer, Relay for Life, The Veteran Recognition program at Haven Hospice, Volunteer Services at the V.A. Soldiers Freedom Outdoors, and other local Veteran organizations.
She is survived by her brother, William of Macon, Georgia; sister, Paula Young of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Ryan Gibbs; husband, Theodore as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins from the Florida Keys to Northern Virginia to the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina.
