Bobby Baxter Morris' Obituary
Bobby Baxter Morris, age 89 passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, in Gainesville surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born in Conway, Arkansas on September 9, 1932, to Carl and Alouise Holloway Morris and raised in Seville, Florida.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, after the service he went to the University of Florida and received his Bachelors and Masters in Education.
Bobby taught Industrial Arts at Lake Shore Jr. High School for 27 years. He was very involved in Duval Co. Teachers Association. He was past president and Chief Collective Bargaining Negotiator. After retiring he was very active in the leadership at St. James United Methodist Church in Palatka.
Bobby loved the Gators and The University of Florida, he enjoyed woodworking, and doing Genealogy with his wife Barbara, and taught classes on preserving family photographs.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara; children, Leslie Polinkas (Jonathan), and Thomas “Tom” Morris (Lisa Alsmeyer Morris); grandchildren Bethany Campbell (Taylor) Evan, Andrew, and Jillian Morris.
Preceded in death by his sister Peggy Wells and husband Kline
A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in the Grace UMC 9325 W. Newberry Rd. Gainesville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St James United Methodist Church www.saintjamespalatka.com
