Bobby Joe Adkins' Obituary
Bobby Joe Adkins, age 77 of Alachua, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 27, 1939 in Hawthorne, Florida to Theodore Roosevelt and Irene Chesser Adkins. He served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was a retired business owner of Adkins Chevron on University Avenue. Later in his retirement, he went back to work part-time as a school bus aide.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Irene Adkins, and his sisters, Gladys Neal and Maedell Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Clarice (Coot) Adkins; daughter, Tami Adkins; sons, Bobby (Deeta) Adkins and Joey Adkins; step-son, Eddie Joe Parrish; grandchildren, Jeremy, Kennedy, Rachel, and Maxx, and sisters, Jeanette Isaac and Joyce Logsdon.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Center Hill Cemetery with Louis Singleton officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
