Billy Ray Caton's Obituary
Billy Ray Caton. 83, of Gainesville, Florida died at his home at 9:53 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Bill was born on June 9, 1932 in Scott City, Indiana. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1959. As a Korean War Veteran he served in Korea, Japan, and MacDill Air Force Base. Service awards include the Korean Service Award, U.N. Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Bill worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller for 34 years before retiring in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Geneva Caton, brother, Paul Sluder, and grandsons, Trey Handley and Max Caton.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dolores M. Caton; 7 children, Debbie (Bob) Valdes, Diane Roberts, Janice Caton, Danny (Renee) Caton, Jimmy (Kim) Caton, Billy (Missy) Caton, and Tina Caton; 2 brothers, Jerry (Wanda) and Allen Caton; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and other relatives.
Bill was an elected officer of the Independent Order of Foresters and a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32607, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. John Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Holy Faith Catholic Church.
