Beverly Kutash Mellman's Obituary
Beverly Kutash Mellman of Gainesville, FL, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 94. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Beverly’s kindness, warmth, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was married for 62 wonderful years to her beloved late husband, Bernard Mellman. Beverly is survived by her loving children: Leslie Hellstrom (Josh Hellstrom), Mark Mellman (Cindy Mellman), Susie Blasberg (Benny Susi), and Karen Mellman-Smith (Peter Smith).
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
Alexa, Thomas & Isabelle Zimmerman; Mackenzie, Taylor, Harper & Hudson Biehl; Carly Hellstrom; Aaron Mellman, Alissa Mellman-Choi (Jeff Choi), Shai, Mary, Gray & Sela Blasberg; Tova Blasberg; Ami & Erin Blasberg; and Ellie Blasberg.
Beverly was born in Cleveland, OH, on October 24, 1930. She spent most of her childhood there and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from The Ohio State University. Beverly and Bernie raised their children in Columbus and Dayton, OH. She was a highly respected teacher and learning disabilities tutor who made a lasting impact on many students' lives.
Her greatest passion was her family. Beverly also loved traveling, musical theater, dancing, reading, and being surrounded by friends.
A life well lived. A legacy of love.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 17, at 10:00 AM at B'nai Israel Cemetery, E. University Avenue (Florida 20) and SE 11th Street/SE Williston Road (Florida 331), Gainesville, FL.
Following the memorial, we will gather to honor Beverly at a shiva at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32605
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hadassah Foundation at https://hadassahfoundation.org/ in memory of Beverly.
