Beverly Ann Lasseter Camp's Obituary
Beverly Ann Lasseter Camp, 80, of Gainesville, FL passed away on October 16, 2025. Beverly was born on November 11, 1944 in Miami, Florida to Josephine Coleman Lasseter and Notley W. Lassetter.
Beverly went through public schools in both Miami and Gainesville, FL and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1962. Beverly felt a close kinship with the graduating classes of both schools and continued to attend both reunions years later. She had close ties to friends from both schools whom she regularly kept in touch with.
On March 20, 1965 she married the love of her life, Roy Owen Camp in Gainesville, Florida. They had two children, Dana Camp Fillmer and Randal Owen Camp. They also had three grandchildren, TJ and Maddox Fillmer, Owen Camp , and two great-grandchildren, John and Marie Fillmer. Beverly and Roy started out their careers building homes with Roy’s father, John Camp and brother-in-law, Gary Taylor. A few years later, Roy and Beverly started a successful commercial building company, R.O. Camp Construction. Each would say that Camp Construction could not have been a success without the other. They worked side-by-side for over 30 years until Roy passed away in 2008. Their company was a longstanding member of the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and The Builders Association of North Central Florida. One of the favorite structures they built is the Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church where Beverly’s Celebration of Life will be held. To borrow words from a friend, they were dedicated to their families, were true friends in good times and bad, and were business people whose words were their bonds.
During the empty nest phase of her life, Beverly and her two sisters went back to finish their degrees at the University of Florida, each earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. Beverly did this in part to honor her mother who was a teacher and also to finish what she started, having completed two years of college right after high school.
Fortune favored Beverly time and again with family and friendships of a lifetime. She loved traveling and boating with friends, University of Florida Gator Football and most of all, spending time with her friends and family.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Coleman Lasseter and Notley W. Lasseter as well as her husband, Roy Owen Camp. She is survived by her children, Randal Owen Camp (Victoria, St. Augustine, FL) and Dana Camp Fillmer (Tom, Gainesville, FL); three grandchildren, Thompson Jeffrey Fillmer (Alexis, Gainesville, FL), Maddox Ann Fillmer (St. Augustine, FL), Owen Harrison Camp (St. Augustine, FL) and two great grandchildren John and Marie, children of TJ and Alexis; two sisters, Fay Lasseter and Charlotte Lasseter (Ed, Gainesville, FL), and sister-in-lw Reba Camp Ridaught (Jerome, Gainesville, FL). She has three nieces, Lisa Munyon (Phillip, Orlando, FL), Jane Hart (Eric, Melbourne, FL), Jolie Hodge (Gainesville, FL), nephew, Brent Taylor (Donna, Gainesville, FL) and great nephews, Ethan and Andrew Hart (Orlando, FL).
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the
Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue Gainesville, FL 32653, with a reception to follow. Arrangements are under the care of WILLIAMS THOMAS WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, FL
