Dr. Betty Jane (Carl) Reisner's Obituary
Dr. Betty Jane (Carl) Reisner was born in Muncy Valley, Pennsylvania in 1921. She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1939. She was valedictorian of her nursing school class at Philadelphia General Hospital. She later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Nursing followed by a Master's degree in Nursing. She received her doctorate in education from Lehigh University.
Dr. Reisner was the director of the school of practical nursing in Allentown Pennsylvania for many years. She later became the director of the RN program at Montgomery County Community College. Finally, she was director of the RN program at Kutztown Community College. She received many teaching awards and was given "Women of the Year" in the Lehigh Valley.
Betty was active in the Lutheran church, teaching Sunday school and being on the board of trustees of the Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia Pa. She was on the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania State Nursing Association. She served on the Board of the Allentown Rescue Mission.
Dr. Reisner was widowed from her husband of 66 years, Frank H. Reisner in 2010. She is survived by her sons Karl L. Reisner of Mercersburg, Pa. and Dr. Frank F. Reisner of Ocala, Fl.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Olivet Baptist Church, 8495 South Magnolia Avenue, Ocala, Florida. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
