Betty Parks' Obituary
Betty Parks, age 82 passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born in Ashland, AL in 1941 to Roy Johnston Melon and Eva Witt Melon.
After graduation from Jacksonville State University, she entered Teaching. She taught until she married Ray Parks in 1971 and moved to Gainesville. Two sons (Brad and Donny) were born. She was a "stay at home mom" until she entered the "work-a-day" world of social work, of which she worked until retirement.
Betty is preceded in death by parents Roy and Eva Melon, Grandparents Robert Johnson Melon, Beulah Lee Melon, Homer Francis Witt, Lottie Feagle Witt, son, Brad H. Parks and sister, Nancy Owens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ray Parks, son, Donny M Parks and wife Laurel, brother, Larry Melon and nieces, two grandsons, Leland and George Ballard, one great granddaughter, Aurora Ballard, and one great grandson on the way, Reese.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Meadows Central Cemetery, 4100 N.W. 39th avenue Gainesville. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery.
The family will be accepting flowers or donations may be made to your favorite charity.
