Betty Jean Hollingsworth Pons' Obituary
Betty Jean Hollingsworth Pons, 85, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was born February 28, 1931 to Perry and Faye Kite Hollingsworth. Born and raised in Gainesville, she enjoyed her years at the University of Florida working at the Reitz Union. She also served many years as the secretary of Woodmen of World Insurance Lodge 5. She loved crafts and spending time with her family out under the oak tree.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Pons; sons, Charlie Pons and Nathan Pons, and a baby girl. She is survived by her children, Katherine Pons, James Pons (Beth, dec.), Shirley Killebrey (Danny, dec.), Phillip Pons (Susan), Faron Pons (Elizabeth), Shelia Pons; daughter-in-law, Connie Pons; sisters, Joann Parker, Helen Sakalarios, Loreen Patton; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME HAWTHORNE, U.S. 301 South at Lake Avenue. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery, Windsor.
