Betty J. Gagne's Obituary
Betty J. Gagne of Gainesville, FL passed away Monday June 24, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family.
Betty was born to the late Marvin and Zylphia Carroll on February 28, 1941 and was raised in Gainesville, FL. While attending Gainesville High School, Betty went on a blind date with a young US Air Force airman. That date would set the course for an incredible life. That moment of fate put her together with the love of her life Arthur Gagne. They married on March 28, 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2019. Together they shared a life with four children: Linda Gagne, David Gagne, Brenda Niehaus, Danny Gagne. Betty is also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Tony, Breanna, Tiffanie, Arianna, Chad, Corey and 13 great-grandchildren.
Betty’s true passion was to be a stay-at-home mother, raising her four children. As a devoted military spouse, the family lived on many US Air Force bases across the US and in Turkey. After Art's retirement from the military, they settled near family in Hawthorne, Florida enjoyed the quiet rural life for over thirty years and eventually relocated back to Gainesville. Betty cherished her family and friends loved conversation, playing cards and boardgames. She was a believer in Christ a proud wife, mother, aunt and wonderful Grandma. Betty will be truly missed by all those that knew her.
Visitation for Betty will be on Saturday, June 29, 2024 form 5PM until 7PM in the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, 404 North Main St., Gainesville, Florida 32601.
Cemetery services will be on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM in Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513. Where she will join her husband Art in their columbarium.
