Barbara A. Padgett's Obituary
Barbara A. Padgett, 91, a longtime resident of Archer, Florida, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022, in the Plaza Health and Rehab Facility, following a long illness.
Mrs. Padgett was born in Miami, Florida on May 2, 1931, the youngest of eight children to the late Malcolm and Verdie Plummer and had resided in Archer since 1960. She had worked for over 29 years for the Alachua County School Board, having worked first in the cafeteria at Buchholz High School and then at Howard Bishop Middle School as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Padgett was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gainesville Lodge #44, a member of the Archer Lions Club, and was an active member of the Archer United Methodist Church. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved birds, especially owls and cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Mr. Mason Padgett, Sr. in 2008. She was also preceded by her seven brothers and sisters, Bernice, Dick, Ray, Bill, Bob, Lucille, and Elizabeth.
Survivors include her daughter, Terrie (David) Stephens; two sons, Mason (Bebe) Padgett, Jr., and Stephen (Libby) Padgett; Six grandchildren, Tony (Valeria), Laura Lee (Drew), Michelle (Stephen), Stephen (Shannel), Chancey (Liz), Trey (Amanda); and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 A. M., in the Archer United Methodist Church, with Rev. Melissa Pisco, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M., at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry.
