Barbara Nilsson Sapp's Obituary
Barbara Nilsson Sapp, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. She was 76 years old.
Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY, but has been a lifelong resident of Florida. She lived in Palatka before moving to Gainesville in 1968. She was a 1964 graduate of Palatka Senior High School and a graduate of St. Johns River Jr. College in 1966.
Before retiring in 2011, she was a business assistant of UF Family Practice in Gainesville for over 25 years.
Barbara married Robert Sapp on June 11, 1977. They were devoted to each other and were married for 45 years. Barbara was a participant with the Job Corp. Services and was devoted to the community. She donated a lot of time and devotion to charity benefits. Barbara was an avid Florida Gator fan, loved to travel and always ready to throw a good party. She was a fun loving person always thinking of others.
Bárbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunts and friend who will be forever remembered. She never met a stranger and those who knew her loved her gift of gab. She was an outgoing and exciting person. She loved people and love interacting and socializing with all. She inspired others to live life to its fullest. She was the light in the life of every person she met and will be remembered by her extended family and dear friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert B. Sapp of Gainesville; a son, Robert A. Nilsson (Kellie) of Gainesville; two step daughters, Chali Marcoccia (Paul) of Orlando and Tania Lea of Melbourne; five granddaughters, Taylor, Jordan, Fiona, Bianca and Sophia and one grandson, Christopher; two sisters, Rainy Nilsson of Jacksonville and Carol Long (Allen) of Davie; one brother, Gary Nilsson (Doris) of Palatka and many friends.
She was the daughter of the late Harry and Lois Nilsson of Palatka.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main St. Gainesville, Barbara’s Celebration of life will be held at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
A Catered luncheon will follow right after the celebration of life.
