Badger Moring's Obituary
Badger Moring, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, funeral director, and lifelong Florida Gator, passed away surrounded by family and love. He was 85.
Born on September 1, 1939, in Stuart, Florida, to Agnes and George Moring, Badger’s life was defined by dedication—to his country, his profession, his community, and the people he loved. He graduated from P.K. Yonge High School in 1957 and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the elite 82nd Airborne Division.
In 1966, Badger graduated from Worsham Mortuary College, beginning a long and meaningful career as a funeral director. His care for others was evident in the many lives he touched through his work at Johnson-Hayes Funeral Home, Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Williams-Thomas Funeral Home and he was the founder of Moring Funeral Home and Moring Enterprises.
A proud and passionate Gator fan, Badger was a fixture at University of Florida games, home and away, for decades. His love for the orange and blue ran deep and was matched only by his dedication to serving his community. He was a past president of the Fightin’ Gator Touchdown Club and the Lake Region Kiwanis Club, a former Post Commander of the Hawthorne American Legion, and an active member of numerous organizations including the Gainesville Quarterback Club, Gator Dugout Club, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the Jaycees.
Badger’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his son Badger Jr. and daughter-in-law Kaley; his daughter Ce Cuauhtli; stepdaughter Ginger and son-in-law Joseph; his brother Harris; and his cherished grandchildren Ronald, Megan, Joseph, Jonathan, Taylor, Karleigh, Autumn, and Melody. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he enriched.
He is now reunited in heaven with his daughter Laurie, stepson Danny, siblings Alton, James, Joyce, and Gloria, and his parents, Agnes and George.
Badger lived life with a full heart and an open hand. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, deep sense of duty, and unshakable Gator spirit. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams-Thomas Downtown Chapel, 404 North Main Street with Pastor Chris Kollmann of the First Lutheran Church of Gainesville officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Kiwanis Foundation, an organization close to Badger’s heart.
