B.T. Wigley, Jr.'s Obituary
B. T. Wigley, Jr., age 75 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born April 8, 1942 in Robersonville, North Carolina to Burnley T. and Charlotte M. Dickerson Wigley, Sr.
He grew up in the Mississippi Delta and loved to drive tractors and in 1959 he won the National Tractor Driving Championship. Another passion of his was flying. He was a private pilot and enjoyed spending time at the airport with other pilots.
He worked at Gainesville Gas for 20 years. He returned to his love of farming and tractor driving afterwards and finished his working career as a construction project manager. He loved spending quality time with his family and numerous friends. He was known to his family as someone who never quit, enjoying his life to its fullest. His genuinely loving and pleasant personality attracted many friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him as someone who overcame numerous challenges despite the odds. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those he befriended.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dickie Wigley.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, B.T. Wigley, III (Lorraine) of Long Beach, MS; Kevin Wigley (Kristin Clayton) of Daytona Beach; Brian Wigley (Jan Sears) of Brunswick, GA; Jason Wigley (Malinda) of Yorktown, VA; sisters, Anne Rolls (John) of Houston, TX and Lisa Pappas of Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Lisa, Kim, Marla, Andrew, Ava and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave. The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
