Dr. Sandeen always introduced himself as Art, and everyone referred to him accordingly with great respect. When I look back, after all these years, I now realize how young he was, and already VP of Student Affairs at the University of Florida. What a model of professionalism and kindness toward people he exemplified. Art was genuinely loved by many. Blessings to the entire family.
Dr. Sandeen was a legend in the Student Affairs profession. His love and respect for students was his north star and influenced so many of us. We met your parents, Art and Sue, through their dear friends, Pat and Vic Shille. In these last precious years, we enjoyed their stories as they reminisced about how they met, their early years as house parents, their camping and fishing adventures, and most dearly to them the family gatherings at the Shille’s Chalet on St. Augustine beach.

Art and I grew up together in Hinsdale and reconnected when I joined UF in 1981. He was one of the nicest young men in our school, so I was not surprised to find that he was a beloved VP at UF. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dr. Sandeen was a remarkable leader, mentor, advisor, and friend. His service to the student affairs profession, to the University of Florida, and to generations of students has left an enduring legacy that will continue to positively impact the community, our state, and country.
