Arol Virginia Barnes' Obituary
Arol Virginia Barnes, 73, resident of Hawthorne, Florida, died Monday, January 20, 2020, at her home, following a long illness.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Moultrie, Georgia on April 20, 1946 to the late S. J. and Sally Benton, and moved Gainesville, Florida as a young girl. As a teenager, Mrs. Barnes was one of the first heart surgery patients at Shands Hospital.; she attended Gainesville High School, and soon after, married Mr. Kenneth Barnes, to whom she was married for over 57 years. After many years, she moved to her current home on Lake Lackawanna. Mrs. Barnes enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, plants and spending time by the water and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalind Asbell and a brother, Jerry Benton.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Barnes; two daughters, Dolores (Scott) Davis, of Springfield, MO, and Leigh Barnes, of Hawthorne; one son, Donald (Evelyn) Barnes, of Hawthorne; two brothers, Kenneth (Wilma) Benton, of Crystal River and Leon (Skeeter) Benton, of Bentonville, WA; one sister, Cherie McColaugh, of Gainesville. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 A. M., in Hawthorne Cemetery.
