Arnold A. (Arnie) Heggestad passed away after a brief illness on December 3, 2020 at the age of 77. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Howard and Dolores Heggestad. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Hegges Read Obituary
Arnie was a wonderful person who gave freely of himself. In addition to being outstanding academically and organizationally, Arnie was exceptional in having both the altruism and practical ability to improve things solely for others. I speak from experience: my own life would have been dramatically different but for Arnie. While he was just a graduate student he organized my transfer into the Michigan State graduate program which energized me to complete my studies. We overlapped for a while at the Federal Reserve Board where his charisma and selflessness were again in evidence.
Arnie was a kind, intelligent, capable, and just plain nice person who will be sorely missed.

I was sorry to read of Dr. Heggestad's passing. He and Bonnie were so supportive of our kindergarten when I had Arnie at J J Finley. My sincere condolences to Arnie and family.
