Annie Louise Thigpen's Obituary
Annie Louise Thigpen, 75, of Orange Heights, Florida, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in the E. T. York Care Center, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Thigpen was born in Gainesville, on April 21, 1941 to the late Chester and Carrie Belle Dougherty. She grew up in the Orange Heights area, attending Hawthorne High School, until her marriage to the late Donald Thigpen moved her to Atlanta, Georgia. She returned to Orange Heights 21 years ago, and was a member of The Church at Orange Heights. Mrs. Thigpen was part of a very large family, and most of her time was spent enjoying her family. She was also preceded in death by her son James “Jimbo” Thigpen.
She is survived by her daughter Marjorie (Mark) Pearson, of Keystone Heights; a son David Thigpen, of Orange Heights; three brothers, George (Sally) Dougherty, Harry Dougherty and Clark Dougherty, all of Orange Heights; three sisters, Dorothy Byrd and Debbie Granger, both of Waldo and Grace (Eddie) Narron, of Dothan, AL; a half-sister Viola Ann (Bill) Yates, of Statesville, NC; three grandchildren, Amanda Turner, Joe Turner and Sarah Turner; one great grandchild, Conner Austin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 A. M., at The Church at Orange Heights, 16700 NE SR 26, Hawthorne. Interment will follow in Saluda Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 5 to 7 P. M., at the WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
