Anne Marie (Trafford) McReynolds' Obituary
Anne Marie (Trafford) McReynolds of Gainesville passed away at her home on October 3, 2018 at the age of 60 after six years enduring a battle with multiple myeloma.
Anne was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Miami, Florida. Anne excelled in music and started playing the flute in seventh grade. She became accomplished on several instruments including trumpet, baritone, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, and tuba. She also played viola in the Dade county Youth Orchestra. In high school, she was in the South Miami High School Marching Band where she played tuba. In college she was in the FIU Jazz Band playing the bass parts on tuba.
Anne received an Associate's degree in Music and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. After graduation she was a computer programmer with the City of Miami, retiring after 24 years as a Senior Systems Analyst.
Over the years, Anne preformed principally at Kendall United Methodist Church and other churches in South Dade on tuba and flute. She was in MENSA and was a private pilot, owning two airplanes.
Anne met her husband Paul while in college and they had a glorious love for each other for over 40 years. They moved to Gainesville in 2004 after retiring and joined several music organizations including the Gainesville Community Band, Gainesville Flute Ensemble, and Gainesville Pops. She played tuba in the Santa Fe Brass and later conducted the ensemble for six years. She played alto sax in the Gainesville Big Band and can be seen on youTube and Facebook. She also performed on trombone in a brass quintet in Gainesville.
Anne was an amazing woman, loving, intelligent, and talented. She was a very beautiful person inside and out. She had many friends and loved them all.
She is survived by her husband, Paul McReynolds; her mother, Jeanne Trafford of Jacksonville; sister, Kathy Barber and family of Jacksonville; and many extended family members.
A celebration of Anne's life will be held on October 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143 Street, Newberry with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
