Ann Brooks' Obituary
Ann Brooks, age 86 of Gainesville, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Shands at UF Hospital. She was born August 22, 1928 in Cheswick, Pennsylvania to the late R.E. and Claire Heilman Heasley. Ann enjoyed singing and playing the piano and traveling. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ann is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 49 years, Thurston “Buck” Brooks, Jr.; children, Lynn Mathis (Richard), Thurston “Skip” Brooks III (Mudah), Robert “Bob” Brooks (Peggy), Thomas “Tom” Brooks (Katie) and Mary Poovey; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Ann’s Life will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., in Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 9700 West Newberry Road, with Rev. David Bryant and Rev. Michael Lozano officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 22, 2015, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, St. Labre Indian School in Montana or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
