Andrew Hector Cantin's Obituary
Andrew Hector Cantin died peacefully at home with his family on May 9, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1929, in Montreal, Quebec and was raised in Windsor, Ontario Canada.
In 1946 he joined the United States Army in Detroit, Michigan and served 2 years in Korea. Thereafter he returned home and joined the 82nd Airborne and served for three years.
In 1952 he married Shirley LeeAnn Mitchell his wife of 72 years. He was discharged from the service in 1953 and devoted his life to his wife and family of four children: Andrew "Mitch" Cantin (Jan), Valerie Cantin Walker, Allison Cantin Tillman (Michael), James Cantin (Holly), eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
His career spanned over 45 years in the commercial printing business industry.
As a devout Catholic he was a 65-year member of the K of C and cooked many communion breakfasts, and St Patrick’s dinners. He also enjoyed watching pro baseball including the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays.
Andy will be truly missed by his family and friends. Heaven is blessed with another hero.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10:00AM, with military honors, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 SW 24th Ave with Fr. Al Esposito as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Queen of Peace columbarium.
