Alvin Thomas (TOM) Black's Obituary
Larger than life husband, father, grandfather (Pop-Pop), brother and friend Alvin Thomas (TOM) Black was tragically taken from on us on Friday, June 24, 2022. Tom was born July 26, 1950, to the predeceased Helen and Alvin Black in Toms River, New Jersey. He married Judy, September 30, 1972, in Toms River New Jersey and two years later they had Brian in 1974. In 1975, the Black’s picked up and moved to South Florida for the warm weather! In 1976, Alex came along and with two littles they decided to move to the Florida Keys. He then worked doing masonry work for a short time and decided that wasn’t enough, so he and Arnold Ross started Ross and Black Construction. They raised the boys in the keys and in 1996 decided to pack up once more and move to Gainesville, Florida due to his love for traveling and RVing.
Tom had a love for family and friends and would give you the shirt off his back at any moment. He lived for his wife Judy, his boys and their wives Brian and Ashley and Alex and Kristin and his four Grandchildren: Brandon (21), Cameron (12), Eian (10) and Juliana (6). After he hung up his hat in building, he fulfilled his days with spending time with his family, friends his favorite hobbies, riding his Harley, driving his corvette, or taking the RV around the country! Tom will be dearly missed until we get to see him on the other side.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL with Dr. Robert Shettler as officiant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org
