Alma Graham Hennessey Mosley's Obituary
Alma Graham Hennessey Mosley (Mimi) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio May 22, 1917, to Alma and Elmer Graham. At age nine, the family moved to Covington, Kentucky. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Elmer (1997); her husband, Colonel James (Jim) T. Hennessey, Sr in 1995; her daughters, Sharon (2009) and Jan (1999); her grandson, James (Jimmy) T. Hennessey III (1997) and her great granddaughter, Kara Ann Lang (2009).
Alma attended Holmes High School in Covington and was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Thespian Society. She received her Bachelor of Education from Eastern Kentucky State College, now Eastern Kentucky University where she met Jim Hennessey. They married in 1941. She taught in Covington, KY, Stearns, KY, Alexandria, VA and did substitute teaching in American schools in Germany. She taught Sunday school for 25 years. They did much traveling and living in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Indiana, Japan, England, and Germany. They also visited Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, Central and South America and much of Europe. Alma resided in Gainesville since 1968 and was a member of St. Michaels Episcopal and First Presbyterian churches. She played bridge with several groups and participated in a gourmet club that hosted wonderful themed dinner parties for more than three decades. So many dear friends were such a blessing and a joy for her.
In 1999, Alma met Bob Mosley at a friend’s birthday party. Romance blossomed and they were married on March 17, 2001. Both were fortunate to find not one but two great life partners. Their many grandchildren and great grandchildren were fortunate to have “Grand Mimi and Grand Bob” as part of their lives.
Alma is survived by her husband, Robert Mosley; children, Colonel (USA Retired) James T. Hennessey, Jr. PhD (Barbara), John Graham Hennessey (Meghan), Kristina Specht (Geoff); eighteen grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, step children, Melanie Mosley Godwin (Paul) and Brian Mosley (Christina); and step grandson Chase Shumsky, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. 300 SW Second Avenue.
