Alice Elizabeth Orton Plemmons' Obituary
Alice Elizabeth Orton Plemmons passed away, at the age 77, in Chiefland, Florida on October 15, 2024. She was born in Gainesville, Florida on May 7, 1947, to Timothy Townsend Orton and Nettie Lee Thigpen Orton.
Alice graduated from P.K. Young, and went straight to nursing school after high school. She started her nursing career at Shands Hospital, then North Florida Regional Hospital where she was one of the first nurses hired when the hospital opened. She eventually retired from there after many years of service. She was the BEST caregiver to so many people and animals. Her passion was to take care of others. She loved to garden and loved to work outside. She enjoyed decorating her yard for the holidays. In earlier years Alice enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Alice is survived by her sons, Barton E. Plemmons Jr. (JoEllen) and Bret A. Plemmons (Pam); sisters, Sandy Borie and Sarah Decker; brothers, Dick Orton, Buck Orton, Steve Orton, and Tom Orton; grandchildren, Kody Plemmons and Wyatt Plemmons; great-grandchildren, Klara, Josie, and Kohen. She is preceded by her husband Barton E. Plemmons Sr.; her parents Tim and Nettie Lee Orton; brothers Ted Orton, Ben Orton, and Mike Orton.
She will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
